Mario Balotelli: I'm happy to have left Liverpool

'Super Mario' is home. A financial move that could have devastating consequences in terms of Liverpool's ability to balance the accounting books in an era of financial fair play. La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that AC Milan is ready to take back the Italian on a loan.

"Did I imagine returning to Milan?"

"I always had Milan in my heart and always had hope that I would return one day", the 25-year-old said.

"Will I finish my career at Milan?"

Do you think Balotelli is a quality player?

Unlike his impending Rossoneri return, Balotelli was joining a side, if not manager in Brendan Rodgers, desperate to prove they could cope with the loss of the influential Luis Suarez and prove that a second-place finish in the English Premier League was no mere fluke. Balotelli previously played for Manchester City and Inter Milan.

Balotelli is 25. He should be at his peak. "Physically, I'm in pretty good shape, I just have to train with the team".

Balotelli is expected to complete his move to the Serie A club on Tuesday evening and is due to train with his new teammates at 6 p.m. local time, in preparation for what might be his second debut for the club against Empoli on Saturday evening.

Balotelli was not part of Liverpool's pre-season tour to the Far East and Australia and seems all but certain to leave the club. "Difficult negotiation with Schalke, but the market is still long". Since then, there have been umpteen Instagram updates, Facebook statuses and Twitter posts attracting empathy and backlashes in equal measure. Who would rationally look at Balotelli's recent performances and want him?

Balotelli was terrible at Liverpool, in truth. Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano are now the first-choice pairing, so where does he fit? Liverpool's desperation to offload him was clear as they were believed to have made sacrifices to make the deal happen.

Meanwhile Talksport reports that the Reds "are demanding an improved bid from Fiorentina" if the Serie A club are serious about signing striker Fabio Borini.

"There are talks with Liverpool".
